How do I make sure that the cleaners are trustworthy?

  • We are very particular about who we hire.

    SMH Cleaning employees undergo a rigorous and thorough screening process that includes a criminal background check. Moreover, all SMH Cleaning employees are completely insured and bonded.

    Our employees are all provided with top-notch training so that they can meet our demanding standards, and we periodically conduct quality inspection checks.

    Trust is a fundamental component of our business. Thus, we take pride having earned the trust of hundreds and hundreds of customers throughout the many years of our company’s success.

Do I need to pay any taxes if I hire a cleaner?

  • No. SMH Cleaning’s goal is to decrease your number of obligations in life. We certainly not want to add to them!

    Most homeowners are unaware of the inherent risks of hiring an independent cleaner. Often the liability for payroll taxes and work-related injuries falls to the client.

    As a qualified cleaning service, we take full responsibility for the various elements of our staff’s employment - this includes payroll taxes and Workman’s Compensation (in the event of an injury). The only thing you ever need to worry about is how we can best serve you.

How do I book an SMH cleaner?

  • We’re just one call away! Just dial (847) 318-6291 to book.

    We will schedule a visit to your home where we can discuss your individual cleaning needs, and give you a free quote.

    We will present you with a comprehensive list that details our wide range of services, so that you may choose what you would like for us to do for you.

    Together, we will create a work order tailored to your specific desires, and you will be given a copy. This is not a contract but is simply another way to assure you receive our personalized, consistent and timely service.

How frequently should I have my home cleaned?

  • SMH Cleaning offers regular housecleaning on a weekly, bi-weekly and monthly basis.

    Need a one-time cleaning? No problem. Whether you need move-in/move-out cleaning, a deep clean, new construction clean up, or the occasional maintenance clean, we are here to help.

    Our most popular visit is bi-weekly, but we are happy to schedule according to your needs.

Is there a contract to sign when I book for your service?

  • No. There are no contracts to sign. We are pleased to earn your business each time we clean.

Do I need to be home during the cleaning?

  • We do not require that you are home during the cleaning, although you are welcome to be.

    Often, our customers provide us with a copy of the key to their home and/or alarm codes if necessary. Keys and access information are stored securely.

Is it possible to request the same house cleaner?

  • We want you to enjoy continuity in your service, which allows you never to think twice about it. We make every attempt to send the same cleaner to your home for each visit.

    We want to provide you with reliability no matter what - even if circumstances arise that demand a change in staffing. Each and every employee on our team is extensively qualified to employ the same efficient, effective cleaning methods.

    We begin our relationship with you by arranging a visit to your home and creating a customized work order, so that you can always count on receiving the same high-quality, personalized service.

Will SMH Cleaning be liable if something in my home is damaged?

  • In the unfavorable situation that a breakage occurs, we will quickly make every effort to have the item repaired or replaced. All SMH Cleaning employees are fully insured to guarantee the safety of your home and your possessions.

Is your work guaranteed?

  • It is! We have a 100% satisfaction guaranteed policy.

    Our intention is to provide our clients with the best cleaning possible each and every time. If the cleaning is not done to your satisfaction, simply give us a call within 24-hours, and we will fix it for free or give you credit on your next clean.

How do I pay for my cleaning?

  • Payment is due the day of service. We accept check, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover. Many of our customers leave a check, payable to SMH Cleaning, on their countertop or kitchen table. If you prefer paying with a credit card, a card number may be left on file with us.

    One-time cleans require a credit card payment.

Can I purchase Gift Certificates?

  • Yes, you can! SMH Cleaning Services make a wonderful and thoughtful gift. Perfect for Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day, a birthday or anniversary, or even to help a friend through a difficult time. Whatever the occasion, our gift certificates can be sent straight to the recipient or to you.

What should be done with my pets during the cleaning?

  • We love pets! We do need to be informed if there are pets in your home, and we like to know their names. If you have any particular requests concerning your pets, or if there are any special conditions that you think we should be conscious of, we will want this information to be included on your work order.

Should I give my cleaner a tip?

  • Tips for our cleaners are not expected and are not a requirement. Leaving your cleaner a simple thank you note will mean a lot. Our cleaners appreciate knowing that their work met or exceeded your expectations. If you do wish to leave a tip, please place it on the kitchen counter.

Will you come on a holiday?

  • If your scheduled cleaning falls on a holiday, we will contact you approximately one month in advance to reschedule. Our office observes the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Can one of your professionals be directly hired?

  • No, our employees are not available to be hired directly. We put significant time and resources into hiring our staff, and each worker signs a contract with us in which they agree not to solicit or accept direct employment from any of our customers for two years from the date that the employee last worked for SMH Cleaning.
